LGBT History Month 2019
LGBT History month – from 1st of February
In the occasion of the LGBT History Month, Together commemorates the LGBT community and its struggles to gain a respectable identity and change perceptions of them within societies.
We will be showing Out in Mumbai, an eye-opening documentary that tells the stories of three people who lived through the decriminalization of homosexuality in India. Travel through the streets of Mumbai with Beena, Pallav and Abheena as they prepare for the first anniversary of the historic verdict overturning section 377 of the Indian penal code. The stories of finding oneself, facing adversity and showing love triumphs all prejudice are some of the reasons why LGBT history should be celebrated.
Watch Out in Mumbai, airing on February the 12th at 11.15pm and on February the 26th at 11pm.

Why February?
UK celebrates LGBT History month during this period to coincide with abolishment of 'Section 28' of the Local Government Act 1988 on the year 2003 - which had formerly prohibited local authorities from "promoting" homosexuality or gay "pretended family relationships", and prevented councils spending money on educational materials and projects perceived to promote a gay lifestyle. This was a milestone event that allowed more representation for the LGBT community, giving them a chance to gain a voice to express their thoughts freely.
