Let's Talk About Sexual Health: It's Never Too Late to Stay Safe

Hey Together TV family! We know you love our selection of classic films that aren't afraid to show a bit of romance and spice. That's why, with STI Awareness Day approaching on January 14th, we wanted to have a frank chat about something that affects people of all ages – yes, even us seasoned folks!

Did you know there's been quite a jump in STIs among people over 45? It's true, and it's nothing to be embarrassed about. After all, love and romance don't come with an expiration date! But what many of us didn't learn in our younger days is that protection is still important, even when pregnancy isn't a concern.

Whether you're dating again after losing a partner, exploring new relationships, or just enjoying life, here's what you should know:

First things first – STIs don't discriminate based on age, and they often don't show any obvious signs. You can't tell if someone has an STI just by looking at them (even if they're as dashing as George Clooney!).

For our lovely ladies, here's something important: after menopause, our bodies change in ways that can actually make us more susceptible to infections. It's just another reason to stay safe and protected.

What should you look out for? While many STIs are sneaky and show no symptoms, some signs might include unusual discharge, soreness, or discomfort when using the loo. If something doesn't feel right, it's worth getting checked.

The good news? Sexual health clinics have seen it all, and they're there to help without judgment. Most STIs are easily treated once spotted, so there's no need to suffer in silence or feel embarrassed. Read more on NHS website >>

This January, while you're enjoying our selection of classic films that celebrate romance in all its glory (and yes, sometimes with a cheeky bit of nudity!), remember that real-life romance needs a bit of practical thinking too. Our film schedule is packed with timeless love stories that remind us that passion knows no age – we just need to be smart about it!

Looking after your sexual health is just as important as any other aspect of wellbeing. Stay safe, stay informed, and keep enjoying life to the fullest!

Got questions? Your GP or local sexual health clinic is always there for a confidential chat. After all, good health means better enjoyment of all those romantic films we love showing on Together TV!

Stay fabulous, Your Together TV Family
