The Role

The Post-Production Manager is a new role, responsible for the management and operations of our content for broadcast / streaming platforms.

This includes responsibility for preparation, QC and delivery of TV series and films for TV and streaming.

Alongside this you will work on the production, editing and delivery of promos, continuity voiceovers, menu clips and on-air graphics and occasional campaign content: enticing viewers to engage with our content and campaigns.

This role reports to our Director of Operations and will work closely with internal teams and external partners (playout, distributors, PSBs, Lumo TV) to acquire, compliance edit and deliver programming.

Key responsibilities:

Media Asset & Systems Management

  1. Managing assets and delivery of programmes to air -

    • Q.C. of programmes for broadcast

    • Compliance editing to meet Ofcom editorial standards

    • Break timings for commercial insertion – both soft and hard parting of assets

    • Transcoding of files for playout and internal viewing copies

    • Data ingest of programme timecode data

    • Mixing sound levels to achieve a loudness‑compliant dynamic range suitable for broadcast.

    • Basic colour correction and picture legalisation

    • Control and QC of subtitle creation software along with the embedding of closed caption subtitle data into playout files

    • Video conforming and standards conversion for UK broadcast.

    • Some craft editing of productions, mainly offline edit, some online

  2. Managing the post-acquisition workflow to ensure programmes get to playout in a timely fashion and metadata reaches the scheduling team within an agreed timescale.

  3. Liaising with the Content & Scheduling department on programme details and durations along with editorial compliance.

  4. Ensuring Together TV’s post-production systems are kept in good working order with effective housekeeping of storage and a tidy and organised workflow.

  5. Working with our playout provider regarding ingest, playout and any engineering changes

  6. Occasional audio recording and editing of audio, particularly for voice-over

  7. Production of screen grabs and menu clips

Creative Editing

  1. Create, write, edit, produce promos, clips and campaigns that attract viewers to the channel and enhance the channel experience

  2. Liaise with Content and Marketing to ensure tone of voice and brand ethos

  3. Create cross-platform campaigns for on-air, online and social media

  4. Offline / online edit for other series, originations and co-productions, as needed

  5. Maintain oversight of the promotions pipeline to ensure everything is produced to deadlines

Person specification:

  1. Proven video editing and programme delivery skills gained in a broadcast environment.

  2. Up-to-date knowledge of TV post-production processes and technology

  3. Experience of file encoding and transcoding (preferably with Adobe Media Encoder)

  4. A visual storyteller with experience of promo production and editing

  5. Deep familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud post-production tools (Premiere Pro, AME, Audition, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop)

  6. Experience of technical compliance to DPP guidelines

  7. Knowledge of streaming workflows beneficial

  8. Familiarity with online editing processes for broadcast

  9. Knowledge of emerging AI technologies for video and audio

  10. A solid understanding of conveying channel branding, ethos and tone of voice through graphics, brand creative and visually

  11. Knowledge of editorial compliance, Broadcast Code, commercial / music rights

  12. Experience in casting and directing voice over and directing audio sessions

  13. Experience of programme consolidation and archiving

  14. Strong planning skills, able to prioritize tasks and work well to deadlines

  15. Strong and flexible work ethic, proactively uses initiative, good communicator
