We have two very special moments in May that we have chosen to acknowledge with a series of new documentaries. These moments are VE Day on Sat 8th May and Mental Health Awareness Week starting 10th May. You can read more about the special documentaries we’ll be showing for both below as well as our newest series Ade in Britain, another gem for Adrian Edmondson fans. This year the mental health awareness week promoted by Mental Health Foundation is dedicated to nature and the importance of connecting with it.

VE Day 8th May 2021

To commemorate VE Day, we will dedicate a whole afternoon to world war documentaries starting with:

NEW: Lancaster at War (2 pm) an in-depth story of WW2’s incredible fighter jet;

World War 2 (3 pm) revealing the secrets of Operation Oak, the German’s rescue of Italian dictator Mussolini in 1943;

NEW: Women Pilots of WW2 (4.15 pm) focuses on the American women who signed up to fulfil their aviation dreams and serve their country;

NEW: Nancy Corrigan, Sky Blazer (5.30 pm) is a film dedicated to a pivotal female fighter pilot who made history and trained the US pilots as she was the best pilot of her time;

NEW: After The War: Finsbury Stories (6.45 pm) a heartwarming story of the people of Finsbury as they discover their remarkable stories;

and Kindertransport - Kenneth's Story (7.45 pm) how a Jewish Child in Nazi Germany was rescued by Britain’s Kinderstransport programme.

Mental Health Awareness Week

The week commencing 10th May is Mental Health Awareness week, and this year is dedicated to nature and outdoor. We need to start normalising mental health and that comes with understanding different illnesses. Tune in every evening at 11 pm to hear from celebs and their experience with mental health.

We have another great gem from Ade Edmondson this month. Join Ade as he ventures up, down, over and under Britain in a caravan to experience the diverse traditions and cuisines of Britain’s counties.
